I want to write a book !!!

Like every other person, i too always wanted to write a book but the topic seemed a distant idea. No matter how much i tried, i never was able to transform my thought of writing a book into an actual book.
So this story which you are going to read is nothing but my journey of rewriting a single page with different characters and themes to this... i am not sure what this will turn out into.May be a blog entry or it could become a short story or if god helps then may be a full book.
During my early childhood, not early in fact till my teenage years I use to think that I can do anything I want to, scale mountains, reach to stars and all such stuff. I used to be fascinated by everything which looks out of ordinary (from child's perspective obviously) like becoming a magician and fly like a bird, or may be becoming a cop/ detective, solve cases and bring justice, or may be a musician/ poet and live in my own world caring for nothing except art.
I dont remember things in details now, all seemed like a distant dream. But yes i do remember buying magic books and trying magic (seriously I sucked at it), trying to observe people like sherlock holmes and using power of deduction (sucked at it again). But I was never disheartened, I always used to try out things after things (failed miserable in all of them :P)
I even tried doing a superhero like stunt, thought can jump from a railing 6 ft high at an age of 10, but found myself hanging from the railing unable to let go and crying for help.. ha ha.
So many times I use to sit and think that may be on day I will discover my true potential which obviously is to save the earth like superman or spiderman but ALAS nothing happened and I am still an ordinary human being.
So, so many fantasies and dreams which I am sure is part of every child's growing up process.
Anyways, I think I am diverting from the real topic here, about writing THE book.
Like I said that there is no occupation which I have not considered for myself including prime minister's post :P, one of them was to write a book.
Now here is the funny part, before even becoming a writer, I even imagined the kind of place I would like to have after becoming a well known (:P) author where I will be able to write peacefully.I am sure you will be able to identify the kind of place I will be talking about, must have seen it in some movie or read about it somewhere. A beautiful cottage on a hill somewhere quiet away from civilization with all modern gadgets. I know its everyone's dream home.
I even designed the house several times on paper. So much for writing a book you see. So first i need a perfect home to write a perfect book, this is one obstacle which has not been crossed till now and I am sure it will take me forever to reach there.Still I have hope, I thought why not start with a book it may turn out to be alright.
Now the next question which came to my mind and which was rather important was the genre. There are so many genres but I narrowed down to few of them ( dont ask me how, even I dont know, may be coz I have tried writing in them as of now) day to day normal routine romance, philosophy (i am rather good at it) or self help books ( i am genius in it as i took lot of help from others in my life.
